24 Sep How to get to capri from naples
Ferries and hydrofoils leave from Naples and Sorrento. In summer they also leave from Positano, Amalfi, Salerno and Ischia. For most of the year you can’t bring a car or motorbike to Capri.
In Naples, ferries leave from two ports: Molo Beverello and Calata Porta di Massa. Molo Beverello is located in front of the Maschio Angioino, while Calata Porta di Massa is about a kilometre away on the east (if you continue on the left with the sea in front of you). A bus called Alibus leaves from the airport and stops at both piers. Hydrofoils leave from Molo Beverello, while ferries and fast ships – these are the only ones that can carry cars and motor vehicles – from Calata Porta di Massa. Hydrofoils are a bit faster and more expensive than ferries. The hydrofoil ticket from Naples to Capri costs about 20.00 euros, while the ferry ticket costs about 15.00 euros.
Ferries and hydrofoils’s timetables may change – always check them a few days in advance or contact the navigation companies directly, especially in case of bad weather.
Tickets can be purchased at the boarding pier, but in July and August and at weekends we suggest you arrive at the port quite in advance as long queues are expected and you may not be able to get on board.
Tickets can also be purchased online through the service offered by TraghettiLines. You’ll still need to go to the box office before boarding to collect your ticket. As for baggage, a fee of a few euros is required.
